Duodenal duplication cyst is a rare anomaly, totaling only 4% to 12% of gastrointestinal duplications, and is usually encountered during infancy or in early childhood. Most are commonly located posterior to the first or second portion of the duodenum. Presenting signs and symptoms include vomiting, decreased oral intake, periumbilical tenderness, abdominal distention, obstructive jaundice, acute pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The traditional treatment of a duodenal duplication cyst has been complete surgical resection, but very few cases of endoscopic treatment have been reported in the literature. Here, we report a case of duodenal duplication cyst that was manifested by a duodenal polyp.

A gastric duplication cyst is a rare congenital anomaly. Among gastrointestinal duplication cysts, gastric duplication cyst account for only 3.8%. They tend to be symptomatic in early childhood, but asymptomatic during adulthood. So its diagnosis is incidental. Abdominal pain is the most common complaint in adults, and most cases are discovered incidentally by radiological examination or endoscopic gastroduodenoscopy. Preoperative diagnosis of gastric duplication cyst is difficult, and definitive diagnosis requires pathological examination of the lesion. So far, about 8 cases of gastric duplication cyst have been reported in adults in the Korean literature. We report here a case of multiple gastric duplication cysts presenting with melena in a 14-year-old man, which were detected by endoscopic gastroduodenoscopy, abdominal computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasonography. They were treated by complete excision of the multiple gastric duplication cysts by laparoscopic wedge resection.

A duodenal duplication cyst is rare congenital anomaly, which accounts for 5% of all gastrointestinal duplication cysts. Most of the duodenal duplication cysts are usually found during infancy or early childhood, and present with obstructive symptoms. The most common clinical manifestations are an intestinal obstruction or, less commonly, hemorrhage, perforation, biliary obstruction or pancreatitis. The traditional treatment of a duodenal duplication cyst has been complete surgical resection, but very few cases of endoscopic treatment of a duodenal duplication cyst have been previously reported recently in the literature. Moreover, endoscopic treatment of a duodenal duplication cyst has not been reported in Korea. We report our first experience of a duodenal duplication cyst, including diagnosis and endoscopic management with a detachable snare. (Korean J Gastrointest Endosc 2007;35:190-195)

Duplicated cyst is a rare congenital disease that makes up 4% of all gastrointestinal duplications. It is two times more prevalent in women than in men. The majority of cases are detected by such symptoms as an abdominal mass, nausea, abdominal pain and anemia in infants, but these symptoms are uncommon in adults. Obstruction, hemorrhage and perforation are possible complications and malignancy can develop on rare occasions. Most cases are controlled by surgical resection. We report here on a case of gastric duplication cyst in a 20-year-old woman who presented with severe nausea and vomiting. She was managed by surgical resection after evaluation was done via endoscopic ultrasonography. (Korean J Gastrointest Endosc 2006;33:42⁣45)

Duodenal duplication cyst is an uncommon congenital anomaly that is usually encountered during infancy or in early childhood. The clinical manifestation is that of duodenal obstruction or, less commonly, obstructive jaundice, acute pancreatitis, or gastrointestinal bleeding. Here, we report a case of duodenal duplication cyst on the juxtapapillary region in a 19-year-old woman with an unusual clinical manifestation of recurrent pancreatitis and peculiar endoscopic finding of the cyst.
